What does « body shaming » mean exactly ?

It is the action or practice of humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size.

This phenomenon is more and more frequent on social networks, and for a simple and good reason: hidden behind their computer or their phone, people feel safe and therefore allow themselves to criticize others even more.

Criticism on the physical side is the easiest way out, and one of the most devastating for those who are victims.

It can lead to soul-searching, depression, and in the worst case, suicide.

Not feeling comfortable in his body handicaps us every day. It can prevent us from doing things we love, such as swimming in a pool or in the sea, for fear of putting on a bathing suit in front of other people.

People pay too much attention to looks in general, and it is important for us to remember that an individual's values are not found in a simple physique, and that everyone's tastes are varied. Beauty is subjective, everyone has their qualities and flaws, and most importantly, no one is perfect.

Beauty "standards" are usually dictated by the models in magazines, advertisements... Indeed, they are thin, muscular, flawless...

What you need to know is that three quarters of these photos are retouched and improved.

In order to remove these codes, it would be necessary to diversify even more the models, and finally to have any type of physics in the advertisements.

We say no to harassment, taunting and humiliation on social media.

We are here to denounce this malevolence, and to show the people who are victims of this that they are better than they are led to believe.

Don't let others denigrate you. Whoever you are, you are unique, and it is your difference that makes you strong.
