There are all kinds of network discrimination. One of the main forms taking a large part on social media is racism. In fact racism takes up a huge place in the delicate subjects discussed on social networks. There’s more than just black racism as we’ve seen throughout history. All forms of racism can be created on social networks. It was not too long ago, for example, that anti-white racism was exposed on social media. Indeed, white people could be offended by people of color who insulted them or launched mockery at them by justifying themselves by their history and the fact that they had experienced this long before them. There is also recently and unfortunately because of the coronavirus a racism which was born towards the Asian people.
Indeed, all Asian people, at the news of the discovery of the coronavirus, were blamed and rejected. At first by simple joke, but the more this virus grew, the more unjustified racism towards these people increased. These people were then lynched on social networks by jokes, mockery but in fact this was pure racism.
We have to say no. We must say no to racism on social networks regardless of its form. Making jokes about a race, a religion, an origin can quickly go beyond the dead line. We should not take the risk of simply crossing it. How many people feel bad today because of such thinking on social media? How many people have hurt themselves following racist insults on social networks?
We have to say no. No to continue to tolerate people writing such comments. No, the fact that these people continue to have the right to tweet or post any such comments on any network. We must act and not let it go because if we put it all together it is achievable.
We want to continue to go on the networks with confidence. Networks are not the place to exteriorize racist thoughts. If we do not rebel against these injustices who will?
I find it revolting that in 2020 people can still make such a statement without being punished. I find it revolting that in 2020 some may still be hurt by intolerable comments made on social networks. I find it intolerable that in 2020 no one has yet dared to say NO.
